The Merrill Lynch Energy Efficiency index provides exposure to stocks which are well positioned to benefit from the pressing need to reduce energy usage and carbon dioxide emissions. A committee of ML Research Analysts identifies stocks globally in the four sub groups: building insulation, energy efficient products & solutions, auto fuel efficiency and the integrated plays. These stocks are subsequently filtered on several criteria such as market cap and liquidity. The composition ofthe index is reviewed semi-annually, the constituents are weighted according to each company's exposure to the energy efficiency theme and the index is calculated on a price return and total return basis in both USD and EUR.
